Programs in Orange County
Annual Workshops - designed to train artists, educators, therapists, and parents to utilize the arts with students/clients in the areas of creative writing, music, dance, drama, and the visual arts.
Summer at the Center (SATC) - a collaborative, week-long project in musical theater, a program of the O.C. Performing Arts Center and the O.C. Department of Education.
National Programs - opportunities to participate in: Playwright Discovery Awards, Panasonic Young Soloist, and national calls for art, which help to cultivate disability awareness and to further education.
Music Kits - available for school/agency check-out to enhance participation in music activities.
Collaborative Projects - short term residencies that include partnerships with inner-city students, community-based organizations, museums, and art galleries.
Laguna Playhouse Youth Theater Exhibit - artists visit selected sites, and assist students in the creation of artwork for the Youth Theater Season lobby exhibit.
Traveling Art Show - selected art works, from over 1,000 submissions into the Very Special Arts Festival, are displayed at exhibitions, conferences, community sites, and corporations.
Very Special Arts Festival - the culmination of year-round community-based program efforts, including hands-on workshops, demonstrations, performances, and an art exhibit by students and adults countrywide.
Special Appropriations - special funding offered to schools/agencies to promote arts activities, and contirbute to the success of individuals with disabilities.
